Window and Door Replacement in Scarborough

Vinyl (PVC) windows and steel and fiberglass doors, supplied and installed by our own crew in Agincourt, Guildwood, Birch Cliff and across Scarborough.

Scarborough grew fast between the 1950s and the 1980s, and a lot of its homes are now at the age where the original windows give out. Bungalows, backsplits, semis and townhouses built in those decades often still have their first windows, or a replacement set from the 1990s. The seals have failed, the glass fogs and the frames leak cold, and at the south end of the district the wind off Lake Ontario finds every gap. Accent Windows & Doors replaces windows and doors across Scarborough with our own crew, travelling in from our Etobicoke office along Highway 401. Every job starts with a free in-home quote.

Window and Door Replacement for Scarborough Homes

Scarborough is large, and housing changes a lot from the lakefront to Steeles.

Along the Scarborough Bluffs in Birch Cliff, Cliffside and Guildwood, homes sit close to the lake and take the worst of the wind, damp and winter freeze-thaw. Windows here work harder than almost anywhere else in the city. Guildwood has a good number of mid-century modern homes, and the original window lines are part of what makes them look right. Birch Cliff has older cottage-style houses, and Highland Creek keeps some of the oldest homes in the district on ravine lots. Further north in Agincourt, Malvern, Wexford and L’Amoreaux, 1960s to 1980s brick houses and semis are the norm, along with large pockets of freehold townhouses.

We measure every opening on site and order windows made to fit.

Windows We Install in Scarborough

We supply and install vinyl (PVC) casement, slider, bay and bow windows. Casements seal tight, which helps most on the lake side of a house. Sliders suit the wide, low openings common in 1960s and 1970s bungalows and backsplits. Bay and bow windows brighten a living room or primary bedroom. Our window replacement page covers styles, glass and the 25-year warranty.

Entry Doors for Scarborough Homes

A new front door changes how a house looks from the street and how it holds heat. We supply and install steel and fiberglass entry doors, with sidelites and transoms where the opening allows. Many Scarborough homes have a covered entry with room for sidelites, which bring daylight into the front hall. Browse styles on our entry door replacement page. Doors carry a 10-year warranty on the slab and glass and 5 years on the finish. For backyard walkouts we also install sliding and French patio doors.

What we installed

  • 1 single door, full frame replacement

  • Triple glass with Low-E 272

  • Black exterior, white interior

  • Classic hardware

How we finished it

Retrofit windows go into the existing frames, so the brick around them stays as it is. We capped the outside in black and added door stop trim indoors. The large front window was sized to the full brick opening, and it and the door were finished with exterior caulking and colonial trim inside.

Time on site: 1 day

Scarborough Window and Door Replacement FAQs

  1. How much does window replacement cost in Scarborough?

Price depends on the number of windows, their sizes, the styles, the glass and the install method. A free in-home quote gives you an exact price for your home.

  1. My house was built in the 1970s or 80s. Are the windows due for replacement?

If the frames leak air, the glass is cloudy or the windows stick, yes. Windows from that era were not built for today’s insulation standards. We inspect them at the quote and tell you what we see.

  1. I live near the Bluffs. Do lake winds change what you recommend?

Homes near the lake face more wind, moisture and freeze-thaw. We check the condition of the frames and the walls at the in-home visit and recommend the install method that suits the opening.

  1. Can you match my neighbours’ windows?

We can match style and colour closely. We bring samples to the in-home visit so you can compare them against the existing wall.

  1. How long does window replacement take?

Windows are made to order in 4 to 6 weeks. Installation takes 1 to 2 days for most homes.

  1. What warranty do I get?

25 years on windows, 10 years on doors (slab and glass), 5 years on the door finish and 10 years on installation.

  1. Do I need a permit to replace windows in Scarborough?

Replacing windows in the same openings usually does not need a building permit. Enlarging or moving an opening does, and heritage-designated homes have extra rules. We confirm this at the quote.

  1. Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We are licensed, insured and WSIB covered.
